Patient Information

Our team at Shore 2 Shore Psychiatry is committed to providing top-tier mental health care and treatment for a wide variety of conditions and disorders.

We collect medical history, ongoing symptoms, and current medication information on the first visit.

To fully understand your unique case and best serve you, we collect pertinent health information and conduct a thorough examination and mental health assessment. Once we complete the initial consultation, we will compile these documents into a comprehensive file and create a customized treatment plan to meet the patient’s goals. This also allows us to communicate and work with the patient’s other health providers, including any specialists, to provide patients with the highest chance of success. We can modify and alter treatment plans as necessary throughout your time with us. We encourage patients to communicate any new health changes or symptoms they experience immediately.

Initial Examination

Initial Examination

You probably have a lot of questions, especially if this is the first time at Shore 2 Shore Psychiatry. One of the first questions many people ask is how long they will need to allow for the first appointment. Though it can vary between individuals and circumstances, we usually advise people to allow one hour for the first appointment. This first appointment is known as the consultation. The consultation is an opportunity for us to get to know you and for you to get to know us. The quality of the doctor-patient relationship is crucial to the success of treatment, and it is something we place a premium on. During this appointment, we will gather important health information so we can get an accurate picture of your health. It is at this time we will take your vitals and go over any additional tests the doctor feels need to be ordered. At this point, we will discuss the current struggles you are having. Please be assured that anything you say in this appointment is confidential. The doctor will listen in an open and nonjudgmental manner, and you do not have to answer any questions you are not ready to. However, the more open you can be and the more information you can provide us, the better we will be able to help you. We will discuss a recommended course of treatment and set a time for your next visit. We reserve the last portion of the consultation for you to ask any questions you have of us and or our treatment process.

Pain Concerns

Pain Concerns

We emphasize patient comfort in everything we do here at Shore 2 Shore Psychiatry. A large part of a successful treatment process is making sure each patient is comfortable. We want you to feel physically and emotionally at ease in our care. Medical treatment of any type can cause patients to feel anxious, especially if it involves any invasive tests or procedures. First, we will not perform any test or treatment unless we feel it is crucial to helping you get better. Second, we will discuss any concerns you may have and look at all the possible ways we can address these concerns and eliminate as much discomfort as possible. Lastly, we will walk you through any procedure you are unfamiliar with and explain its part in your care plan. Do not hesitate to bring up anything that you are anxious about so we can advise you and put you at ease. Patients may also be concerned about taking new medications. They worry about how they will react to these new medications and what kind of side effects they can expect. We understand these concerns and have a very strict protocol we follow when prescribing new medication to patients. We will carefully consider your health history and any other medications you are currently taking, along with any allergies you may have. We take a great deal of care in matching patients with the right medication and adjusting it when needed. Also, we will provide you with thorough information on any drug we prescribe, as well as help you diminish or avoid any undesirable side effects.
